Nora Friedman, MD, is a psychiatrist at the Lurie Center for Autism. After completing a residency in adult psychiatry and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and McLean Hospital, she joined the faculty at MGH and Harvard Medical School (HMS), where she is a part-time instructor in the departments of pediatrics and psychiatry. At the Lurie center, Dr. Friedman provides comprehensive treatment for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), intellectual disability, and other neurodevelopmental disorders across the lifespan. This includes managing co-occurring psychiatric conditions and behavioral difficulties through pharmacological interventions and the coordination of educational, behavioral, and therapeutic supports. Dr. Friedman is also involved in educating trainees, professionals, patients, and families on ASD and other developmental disorders. Her teaching, written works, and community efforts have centered on enhancing care and optimizing functioning for this population with complex needs.
